In
this Activity we learned about Vincent VanGough’s Starry Night painting. They
asked us to close our eyes and envision a place at night the sounds what you
might see. I imagined a river funning through a forest with mountains in the background.
Then we had to draw our scene we imagined. We created our scratchboards by
coloring the entire piece of paper with different colors then painting over it
with black tempura paint and dish soap. Then we took the landscape and colored
on the back with white chalk and laid it on top of the scratchboard and traced
the scene. The chalk made an outline on the scratchboard then we scratched out
the landscape.
Extension
Activity:
This
could be a fun way to do our vocabulary words for what ever subject. The
students could have the words on the scratchboard then the definition on the
back of the cards.
