Catching Your Dreams

For this lesson we learned about dream catchers. We learned about the meaning and how they worked. As we were working on the project they read us a book called Grandmother’s Dreamcatcher by Becky McCain witch was about the dream catchers and Native American culture. The Bad dreams are caught in the beads and the good dreams are sent down the strings through the feathers. In the morning the sun shines on the beads and destroys the bad dreams. To make them we had to put string through a few holes in the paper plate and crossed them over a couple of times. They then taught us two different ways of stringing the beads on. We finished by stringing the feathers on the bottom and talking at our table about good and bad dreams.
Extinction Activity,
We could learn more about the Native American culture specific to our area. Learning more about their customs and have someone come in and talk about their traditions they do today. Having them go into detail about the different parts of the dream catcher. We would have them all hung around the room.
